Dr. David Hidalgo has achieved international recognition in the field of plastic surgery. His textbook published in 1987 received wide critical acclaim, including glowing reviews by the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. In 1992 he won the James Barrett Brown Award, one of the most prestigious awards given by his peers. Dr. Hidalgo served as the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center from 1992 to 2000, prior to departing to focus on aesthetic surgery exclusively. At Memorial he developed innovative reconstructive procedures, some of which have become the standard of care around the world today.
Dr. Hidalgo is currently affiliated with both Cornell University (New York-Presbyterian Hospital) where he is a Clinical Professor of Surgery. He specializes in aesthetic plastic surgery of the face and body. Dr. Hidalgo is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He presents his surgical techniques to colleagues at national meetings in plastic surgery on a regular basis, both as an invited expert and in his teaching courses. The Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation selected Dr. Hidalgo as their national Visiting Professor for 2002. This unique honor recognizes significant contributions to the field of plastic surgery. |
