As an undergraduate at Georgetown University Dr. Hidalgo completed a double major in Fine Arts (studio painting) and Biology, graduating magna cum laude. He attended Georgetown University Medical School and then served as a resident in general surgery, plastic surgery, and as a Fellow in Plastic Surgery at New York University, one of the most prestigious training programs in the country. He completed his training in 1986 and became board certified in plastic surgery in 1987. His major interest outside of medicine remains art. A few of his paintings and drawings can be seen in the office.

A respected source for the popular press, Dr. Hidalgo has been quoted in numerous prestigious publications including Allure, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire, The New York Times, Town & Country, Vogue and W and has appeared on CBS and ABC News. He has been cited in New York Magazine as one of the best plastic surgeons in the New York area in every listing since these ratings began in 1991. Dr. Hidalgo is also placed at the top of his specialty in America's Top Doctors.
