Staffing

We only employ certified health care professionals of the highest quality. Our anesthesiologist is a board certified physician. Our nursing staff includes three full-time registered nurses, all who maintain ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification. Several part-time nurses and one medical technician provide additional support.

Design and Equipment

Operating room design was supervised by architects from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Important design features include an industrial grade heating and air-conditioning system, an elaborate fire alarm system for maximum protection, and a high capacity emergency generator that will supply electricity to the entire surgical suite for over 24 hours in the event of a complete power failure in the city.

Our equipment is regularly upgraded to maintain state-of-the-art quality throughout. We routinely use warm air body blankets and mechanical calf compression machines for safety, items that are usually found only in hospitals. The operating suite was designed as much to provide a soothing environment as well as a safe one. The engineers double lined walls to insulate the recovery room from extraneous noise, for example. A top decorating firm selected fabrics and wall coverings to give a warm residential feel to the medical environment.

Expense

It is necessary to charge a fee for use of the facility that is separate from the anesthesia fee and the surgical fee. The type of procedure and its duration determines the charge. It is substantially less than what a hospital would charge for the same procedure. Moreover, there is no additional charge if the procedure should take longer than the estimated time (hospitals commonly balance bill).
