Abdominoplasty procedures constitute a trade: a flat abdomen for a hip-to-hip scar, and one around the navel. How the scars heal is one of the biggest variables. Favorable genetics, fair coloring, and time are key factors promoting excellent scar quality, surgical technique surprisingly less so. A few exceptional outcomes are shown here.

Many patients come to us simply to restore their breasts following childbirth. Implants alone without a lift works for most, like shown here. Silicone is often better than saline because the tissues are usually thinner in this scenario. Here, 6 weeks after surgery, we can report that she is very pleased!

An excerpt from a recent podcast with my friend and colleague Dr. Gary Linkov. In this segment the topic of fat grafting for breast augmentation instead of using breast implants is discussed. Spoiler alert: it does not work! Despite breast implant limitations they remain the best option.

This is a typical result one week after surgery. Because surgery is performed in a deeper plane (unlike facial surgery for example) there is scant bruising. There is mild swelling that makes the breast appear shiny and taut, but not much larger then they will ultimately be. They are slightly fuller on the top and the sides early on.

We know it’s right when patients say “it looks great but I hope it goes down a bit” rather than “this looks great, I hope it’s not going to go down at all”. Working closely with our patients when simulating surgery with implants placed in a bra beforehand avoids the latter scenario. Additionally, decades of experience allows us to confidently recommend sizes based on goals, patient height, and baseline breast volume.

This patient has a 300 cc implant. She chose silicone and these were placed “under the muscle” through a 1.5 inch incision in the breast crease, off to the side. She is pleased, and so are we!
