Here with my close friend and colleague Dr. Dennis Hammond to discuss a hot topic in aesthetic breast surgery: fat grafts. While popular among plastic surgeons the technique is not consistently reliable. Much of the fat is absorbed by the body before it can pick up enough blood supply to survive. Fortunately though, great results can be consistently achieved without employing this adjunctive technique.

Facelifts treat the lower face and neck only. While operating on 45 year olds is becoming more popular today, most do not have enough aging changes to warrant it. On the other end of the spectrum, as long as the number does not start with an “8” patients over 65 are typically great candidates for a first facelift. Recovery is similar to younger patients with most presentable by two weeks and completely healed by six weeks. Pain is typically not significant with facelifts because this procedure is largely just surface surgery. Numbness and tightness are common and this eventually dissipates.
