Not every patient needs an aggressive “deep plane” lift. Our patient here, who graciously allowed us to share her images (thank you!), has lower cheek laxity with jowls and deep nasolabial folds that continue below as marionette lines (front view). The upper cheek contours are excellent so not every facial ligament needs to be released in order to effectively move the sagging lower cheeks upward and backward. A “SMASectomy”, a very limited deep plane variant, was all that was needed here. Note how the nasolabial folds are softened and no longer continue downward as marionette lines. Note that the cheek mass is now a smooth entity and the jawline more defined (oblique view).
The upper eyelids are also trimmed to provide an evenly rejuvenated appearance to the face.

Abdominoplasty scars take a long time to mature and look their best. Scars are often red and raised for well over a year before they begin to remodel significantly.
